Reaching 4,000 Factory Workers: 80% Participation via QR Code and SMS
A major industrial manufacturer with a non-desk workforce of 4,000 factory workers across 3 sites achieved 80% survey participation using CorpMetrix's QR code and SMS distribution channels.
The Challenge
The manufacturer's annual engagement survey had historically excluded its 4,000 factory floor employees โ representing 67% of its total headcount โ because they had no corporate email addresses and limited access to desktop computers during shifts. Previous attempts at paper-based surveys achieved only 22% participation and unreliable data.
The Solution
CorpMetrix deployed a QR code-based survey system. Each of the 3 factories received site-specific QR codes printed on A3 posters in break rooms, changing rooms, and canteens. SMS invitations were sent to all workers' personal mobile numbers. The survey was available in Arabic, English, Urdu, Tagalog, and Bengali. Shift supervisors were briefed with a 5-minute facilitation script.
The Outcome
Survey participation reached 80% โ the highest in the company's history for any survey. The Arabic-speaking workforce (38% of respondents) scored 12 points lower on Psychological Safety than the English-speaking white-collar population โ a previously invisible disparity. Three targeted actions were implemented: Arabic-language safety reporting hotline, bilingual team briefings, and a Ramadan flexible shift programme.
